caprylic/capric triglyceride
what it is
A light ester oil — coconut-derived caprylic (C8) and capric (C10) fatty acids rebuilt onto a glycerin backbone. INCI name Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride. It is often loosely called fractionated coconut oil; strictly speaking it is re-esterified, which makes it more uniform and more stable than a simple fraction.
why we use it
It softens without greasy weight, carries oil-soluble ingredients like tocopherol, and — having no fragile double bonds — resists going rancid for the life of the product. It is the quiet middle of both our moisturisers.
