what it is
One line on our label covering a blend of skin-identical lipids: ceramides NP, AP and EOP, phytosphingosine and cholesterol, carried with sodium lauroyl lactylate, a mild emulsifier that helps the lipids disperse and stay where they are useful. These are the same lipid families that form the mortar between the cells of your outermost skin layer.
why we use it
The skin barrier is, physically, a lipid structure. Cleansing, weather and ordinary individual variation change that lipid mix; supplying the same families topically supports the barrier's ability to hold water and stay comfortable.

evidence
Moderate evidence that topically applied skin-identical lipids support barrier function and comfort; that these lipids are the barrier is settled biology. One honesty note the industry usually skips: the much-cited 3:1:1 ratio of ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids from barrier research is a molar ratio — it counts molecules, not grams. Because these molecules have different weights, copying 3:1:1 by weight would not reproduce the studied ratio. We formulate to a weight ratio that is honestly close to the molar intent, and we say so.

Skin-identical lipids are about as well tolerated as ingredients get; sodium lauroyl lactylate is a mild, food-adjacent emulsifier. No usage restrictions.
