squalane
what it is
INCI name Squalane — the hydrogenated, shelf-stable form of squalene, a lipid your sebum already produces. Ours is plant-derived, made from sugarcane.
why we use it
Because it is so close to a lipid skin makes itself, it settles in without feeling foreign — light, non-greasy softening that suits both a lighter and a richer texture. It smooths and supports suppleness without occlusive heaviness, which is why it appears in both moisturisers.
where you'll find it
In feather at 4.00% and in cloud at 3.00%.
evidence
Moderate evidence for its emollient and skin-softening benefits, alongside an excellent tolerability record across skin types, including reactive skin.
safety
Squalane was historically sourced from shark liver; ours is not, and plant-derived material is the standard we specify. No usage restrictions, and one of the lowest irritation profiles among emollients.
