what it is
A white mineral UV filter — INCI name Zinc Oxide. Ours is coated: every particle carries a thin, firmly bonded layer of triethoxycaprylylsilane, a silane-based surface treatment. You will see the coating named on our label alongside the zinc, because it is genuinely there.
why we use it
It is the only UV filter in our sunscreen. Zinc oxide attenuates across both UVB and long UVA — that breadth from a single filter is what earns SPF 50+ and PA++++. The coating does quiet, important work: it keeps particles evenly dispersed in the oil phase so protection is uniform, it damps the photoreactivity of a bare zinc surface, and it improves spread while reducing — though not eliminating — the visible white cast mineral filters can leave.

evidence
Strong evidence. Zinc oxide's UV attenuation is measurable physics, confirmed across decades of testing, and it remains the reference broad-spectrum mineral filter.
safety
Permitted at up to 25% under major sunscreen regulations, which is exactly where we formulate. Penetration studies consistently find zinc oxide particles remaining on or in the outermost layers of intact skin, coated or uncoated, and the coating itself is inert and firmly bound.
